東kyo Studios, established in 2007, is a team of media enthusiasts who work on various media related project both independently and collaboratively. Our team consists of specialists in live and post video/TV production, journalistic and artistic photography, graphic arts and various components of web development.
The team was originally thought up by two alumni of international schools in Tokyo. Shun Endo, from the St. Mary’s International School, and Tai Dirkse from the American School in Japan. The two were interested in creating a name that addresses their international school background. At first, they struggled to come up with a unique name, but eventually ended up with “東kyo Studios”. 東kyo comes from mixing the Japanese word for Tokyo, “東京” and the English Tokyo.
